Go out and discover some great music this weekend. Whether it’s a killer local band or a national act coming through town, you are sure to have a great time. You never know that local band might just be the next big thing….here are a few acts performing this weekend throughout the Dallas- Ft. Worth area.

11/03/06 – Friday

• Monte Montgomery / Mingo Fishtrap doors 7 pm, show 8 pm , Granada Theater Dallas ($12 – $20)
  • Mingo Fishtrap( 8:00 – 9:30) knows how to groove, soul, funk, rock, afro-cuban, jazz – they do it all. Monte Montgomery (10:00) has been named “Top 50 Greatest Guitarists Of All Time” in 2004, don’t miss his acoustical guitar greatness.

• Baboon / Record Hop / Saboteur Baboon’s CD release party 9 p.m., Hailey’s Denton ($5)
  • The band has toured with Iggy Pop and Texas’ own Toadies, and has shared bills with an eclectic range of others such as .38 Special, Fugazi, The Polyphonic Spree, and Moby.

• Burden Brothers CD release party Door open 7:30 pm, Lakewood Theater Dallas ($15)
  • With guests: IVORYLINE 8:10pm DOVE HUNTER 9:00pm BEAUTIFUL DISASTER 9:50pm Burden Brothers 10:50pm

11/04/06 – Saturday

• Erykah Badu 7 p.m., Friendship-West Baptist Church Dallas (Free)
  • Dallas born, world renowned soul artist that mixes old soul, jazz and hip-hop, fused with a hypnotic flow.

• Primus / Drums and Tuba 8 p.m., Will Rogers Auditorium Ft. Worth ($35 – $40)
  • Fronted by the Les Claypool, considered one of the most versatile and unique bass players alive, Primus offers a zany and eclectic style of music all their own, throwing in a healthy amount of the bizarre for good measure.

• The Killdares 9:30 p.m., Flying Saucer – Addison ($3)
  • World class musciaians that blend traditonal celtic stylings with rock – n – roll hooks and hammers.

• The Drams 10 p.m., Dan’s Silverleaf Denton

11/05/06 – Sunday

The Fray / The Damnwells 8 p.m., Will Rogers Auditorium Ft. Worth ($35)
