DFW Holiday Charities/ Donations

Posted by Callie Wed, 29 Nov 2006 21:31:00 GMT

November and December are the two biggest months for charities. More donations are made during the holidays than any other time of the year. With new disasters happening each year, different areas of the world are in need. These disasters cause new “organizations??? to pop up, and you don’t always know if they are legit or just fly by night scams out to get your money. Charity watchdog organizations are there to help you know that your money is going to a legit organization. One website www.charitywatch.org is a great place to look up to see if the organization is legitimate. You can research which charities make better use of your money; some organizations use more money for overhead, salaries and such. It’s nice to know that your money is going to the right places.

Texas Governor Election 2006

Posted by Callie Wed, 08 Nov 2006 02:43:01 GMT

As everyone knows, voting day is today…hopefully everyone or at least many made it out to the polls or opted for the early voters ballot. Honestly there is almost no excuse for not casting a vote…if anything it either gives you boasting rights or the authority to complain for a few years. If you don’t vote, don’t complain..enough said. The polls should be coming to a close, and the votes are already starting to come in…Last time I checked Kinky Friedman held 139,672 votes – 11%...while Dem. Chris Bell 394,990 votes – 30% , Rep. Rick Perry 532,320 votes – 40%. It will probably be a win for the Rep. incumbent but hopefully it won’t be a complete slaughter. Texas is notorious for low voter turnout, maybe this year more people will get their voice heard. Somtimes a third party vote can be a wasted vote, but seriously when you are sick of choosing between the lesser of two evils, what else do you have…a jewish cowboy!!!
